Lent: Adult & Families

Lent is the season of preparation.  Lent is not simply about giving up something or forcing something extra in an already crowded schedule.  Lent is about setting aside our usual routine to create space for God. Traditionally, the church has given us three primary ways to do this: increased prayer, fasting or sacrifice, and increased charity or almsgiving.  Ultimately, Lent is about recognizing and preparing for this great love of the Lord Jesus who was willing to suffer and to die for us.  It is about setting the stage to allow Christ to encounter you.

What you will do this Lent to allow yourself to focus better on Jesus and encounter Him more profoundly.  What practices will you adopt? What changes will you make? What will you give up? Again, the ultimate reason is to encounter Jesus Christ and anything that helps us to do that is an acceptable, even encouraged practice for Lent.
