Feast of the Assumption - August 15th

Celebrated every year on August 15th, the Feast of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary commemorates the end of Mary's earthly life and her bodily assumption into Heaven.  It is believed that when Mary, the mother of Jesus Christ, came to the end of her life, her body was not subjected to the usual process of physical decay but was “assumed” into heaven and reunited there with her soul.  Because it signifies the Blessed Virgin's passing into eternal life, it is a most important Marian feast and a Holy Day of Obligation.

The Mass schedule for the Feast of the Assumption is as follows:

Holy Family, Middletown - 8:30 am and 7:30 pm
St. Mary, Petersville  - 9:00 am and 7:30 pm
